Carolyn Benefield Grissom, 75, passed away suddenly Sunday evening July, 9, 2023 at her residence in St. Charles, Missouri. Before moving to Missouri, she lived in Franklin County.
She was born in Etheridge, Tennessee on December 24, 1947 to Evelyn and Dolphus Benefield. She was a member of New Hope United Methodist Church for many years.
She is survived by daughters, Wendy Hester (Michael), Marshia Lee Burleson (Rodney); son, Cory Benton Grissom; grandchildren, Dustin Skidmore, Kevin Hester (Brittany), Cassandra Ray (Mitchell), Joseph Hester, Rachael King (Paul), Fletcher Hardy (Amber), Nora Jacobson (Benjamin), Saul Hardy, and Julie Allen; great-grandchildren, Danley Ray, Josie King, Emory King, Oakley King, Mavis Jacobson, Theo Hardy, Andrew Pennington, Anna Beth Allen.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Tommie Grissom; father, Dolphus Doyle Benefield; mother, Evelyn Benefield Hardy and step-father, Oker Hardy; brother, Gary Benefield; and sister-in-law, Sandy Benefield.
Visitation will be Sunday, July 16, 2023 from 12 p.m. until 3 p.m. at Akins Funeral Home with service to follow at 3 p.m. in the chapel. Burial will be in East Franklin Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Kevin Hester, Joseph Hester, Josh Brown, Lane Yancy, Fletcher Hardy, and Brad Garrison.
Pastor Charles Orr will be officiating the service.
