Mildred L (Nelson) Plott

Mildred “Mickey” Nelson Plott, 88 years old of Russellville, AL. passed away February 22, 2021 at Russellville Hospital.

Visitation will be Wednesday, February 24, 2021, 11:00 am – Noon at Akins Funeral Home, Russellville, AL. Funeral service will immediately follow at Noon in the Chapel of Akins Funeral Home with Bro. Venlon Bradford. Burial will be in Kimbrough Cemetery.  

Mickey worked for many years at Flower Craft and loved making flowers for family and friends.  She was full of spirit, loved taking trips to the mountains, drinking Dr. Peppers, and loved her family with all her heart. She leaves behind so many memories that her family will treasure forever. Mickey was a member of Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church.

She was born March 26, 1932, in Lawrence County, AL to Charlie and Ethel Mary Nelson.

Mickey was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Orbie Earl Plott; her son, Jimmy Earl Plott; and her siblings, Elva Charline Nelson, Genva Roden, Florence Irene Sanderson, Lucille Flannigan, Elise Thompson “Bo”, Charlie “Bud” Nelson, and Jerry Nelson.

She is survived by her son, Larry Hugh (Pamela) Plott Sr.; her sisters, Mary Rachel “Penny” Hill and Hazel Kelso; her grandchildren, Larry Hugh (Sheryl) Plott Jr. and Tonya (Rick) Bostick; her great grandchildren, Hillary Plott, Courtney Nix, Chloe Plott, Carley Nix, Kylee Plott; and her great - great grandchild, Callie Kate Nix.

Pallbearers will be Larry Hugh Plott Jr, Rick Bostick, Antonio Melecio, Brett Saint, Charlie Nelson, and Johnny Dale Hill.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the nurses and staff of Burns Nursing Home, Dr. Kelly, and Akins Funeral Home for assisting the family.
